Trash & Recycling
The Village (via our contracted partner, Casella) provides a trash and recycling pickup service. This service is provided as a convenience to residents. Private garbage services are available to residents as an alternative to the Village Trash & Recycling Service.
Trash & recycling pickup takes place throughout the Village on Monday Mornings.
Trashcans and recycling bins must be out by 7:00 AM.

Sticker SystemVillage employees will only stop at locations with upright trashcans placed beside the sidewalk or street. If special circumstances of trashcan placement applies to your property, please work with Village Employees on a case by case basis.
Stickers are available for purchase at the Village Office during open hours, and at the Gilbertsville Free Library during open hours. For an additional $5 fee, stickers can be purchased by mail by sending a check to the Village Office. Please include your address when purchasing stickers by mail. For safety, hygiene, and accounting purposes, payment will not be accepted at the time of trash pickup under any circumstances. RecyclingRecyclables must be put in a separate bin from regular trash and cannot be bagged.
Recyclables are taken with trash at no charge, and do not require a garbage sticker. Recyclable items include cardboard, paper, plastics, metal cans, and glass. The Village may accept sharp or broken recyclables. Please help our employees stay safe by making it easy for them to quickly identify any hazards. RulesThe Village reserves the right to refuse trash that is improperly or inadequately bagged, poses a health or safety threat to Village employees or partners, or poses a threat to the environment.
Bags must be securely tied and may not exceed 35 lbs. Village employees will only stop at locations with upright trashcans placed beside the sidewalk or road. Only trash with easily visible and verifiably valid Garbage Stickers will be accepted. |
All other trash will be left as found and is the responsibility of the resident.
The Village is not responsible for improperly marked trash.
Refunds will not be provided for stickers applied to trash that is refused.
For safety, hygiene, and accounting reasons, payment will not be accepted at the time of trash pickup under any circumstances.
