Freedom of Information
The Village of Gilbertsville is a government organization, and therefore subject to Freedom of Information Laws. Other than a handful of exceptions, this means that anything related to operation of the Village is available for public view. This obviously includes documents like the Annual Budget and Board of Trustees Meeting minutes. Less obviously, it includes correspondence between Village employees and officials, including notes of phone calls, and emails sent to and by Village officials. This means an email sent to a Village Official may be subject to a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) Request. Please recognize that communications with the Village are rarely private, and the Village will comply with legal requests to make permissible information available to the public. The Board of Trustees of the Village of Gilbertsville believe transparency is fundamentally necessary to fair and effective administration of public services. We value civil discussion and community input. To request any information related to the Village, please send an email to info@gilbertsvilleny.gov, or call the office during office hours. Please note that certain requests may incur fees for procuring and/or printing the requested documents. |
